Hunting Description

Exotics: Texas has long been home to species from around the world. Many such, as the Blackbuck Antelope and Scimitar Horned Oryx, are more numerous here than in their home lands. With more than 50 species of non-native game, the Recordbuck Ranch is a haven both to the hunter and stability of these species. The ranch is unique in that the mountains to the north and west are perfect habitats for species such as Aoudad, Sheep, Elk and Ibex. To the south and east, plains and brush mimic the habitat of everything from Eland, Impala, and Oryx to the plentiful Bison. Particular attention to genetics, purity, habitat, and nutrition combine to make this a hunter’s mecca. Knowing how to judge and hunt such a huge variety of wildlife requires experienced guides. To the surprise of many, several of these species are more challenging than the legendary Whitetail. Knowing the habits and habitats of each species are critical to the success of your hunt. Our guide staff includes second generation guides intimately aware of the habits of these animals whether this experience comes from growing up among them here in Texas or from hunting them from as far away as Africa. So whether you are young or old, a novice or experienced, hunting with a rifle, bow, muzzleloader, or handgun, Recordbuck Ranch has the wildlife, land, and experience to fill your trophy room. We harvest about 1500 non-native trophies each year.

Seasonal Info: Most of our deer species will start rubbing out in mid-August and will rut in September with the exception of the Axis, who's peak rut is in July. You will find some hard horned bucks year round.  All of the sheep and antelope are hunt-able year round.
