Hunting Description

Whitetail Deer:  A superior whitetail program requires three things. You need lots of land to hunt, a great protein program, and the best genetics in the state.  RecordBuck excels in all of these categories. The 20,000 contiguous acre ranch is divided in half by the hilly terrain of the Texas Hill Country and the famous brush country of South Texas. 

Each year the management supplements the 1,500 deer population in the 20,000 acres with about 175 super buck fawns from our selected breeding program. RecordBuck has some of the very best genetics in Texas from our deer pens, with bucks that are all mind boggling. Because of this effort you will see 75 or more bucks of different ages and sizes almost everywhere you hunt on the ranch.

There are food plots throughout the hunting areas where we bi-annually plant grain crops to supplement the protein feeding programs. We generally hunt whitetail from October through February and harvest about 250 to 275 bucks per year.

Seasonal Info:  Prime hunting times vary by species. Many of the deer species rut in the fall just like our whitetail, others are hunted year around. If you get that summer itch and are tired of fishing or golf and need some adventure, come after an Axis Deer. They are sometimes called Nature’s perfect deer because their antlers are huge-with main beams as long as 3 feet, their beautiful spotted coat, and the meat rivals any meat in the world in texture, flavor, and healthfulness. A regular whitetail license works but for non-residents, there are 5-day non-resident licenses at an affordable rate. Order it online at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/licenses/online_sales/ or complete the Reservation Form and one will be waiting for you when you get here.
